Trimstone Panels Used By Starchitect Álvaro Siza in Manhattan Debut

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NEW YORK, October 1, 2019  — Stoneworks, Inc., the innovative design and manufacturing company for large-scale commercial exteriors, today announced the use of their breakthrough product Trimstone® Lightweight Panel System in Pritzker Prize-winner Álvaro Siza’s US debut project 611 West 56th Street. In addition to the façade, this residential project’s distinct centerpiece, a four-story “crown”, will utilize a Trimstone® System with precision cut limestone. The exclusive penthouse will have private terraces just beneath this distinct centerpiece.

“Siza is a visionary with significant design and architectural expertise, and his work will be an exemplary part of the Manhattan skyline,” said Stoneworks CEO Clem Zanzuri. “We’re grateful that Siza sees the value and aesthetics that Trimstone adds to large-scale projects. This project will be a major step for us as we continue to show how the Trimstone Lightweight Panel System and precision-cut stone can be a valuable asset to architects and developers who are building at scale.”

Developers Sumaida + Khurana and LENY have disclosed that the 450-foot-tall, 37-story building will be filled with one-, two-, three- and four-bedroom residences, starting at $1.2 million, with interiors by Gabellini Sheppard Associates.

Prior to being included in Siza’s project, Trimstone has been used in projects across the globe. Most notably are the 52,000 sq. ft. of Trimstone panels used on the exterior of the new Engineering Building at the University of Texas and the 30,000 sq.ft. of freeze-thaw tested panels used at the Royal Canadian Bank in Prince George, BC Canada.
