Let’s have a conversation today about typical Stone Honeycomb Panel Differentiators, and about our Trimstone® material in particular. We should dive right in with 9 things to know.

1. LIGHTWEIGHT
Stone honeycomb panels will generally weigh in the area of 2.5 lbs per square foot. This is approximately 80 percent less than typical  3/4″ stone slab material.

2. EASY TO INSTALL
These panels are very easy to handle and install. In the case of Trimstone®, our patented cladding system simplifies the installation process even more. This allows for panels to be installed at nearly three times the rate of dimensional stone.

3. PANEL SIZE FLEXIBILITY
Typically, clients can order cut to size panels based on their unique dimensional requirements. Individual panels can be as large as 60” x 120”. The larger facial dimension have a drastic downward impact on the amount of joints in the system overall.
4. PANEL THICKNESS
Stone honeycomb panels can have profiles as thin as 3/8′′, making them a perfect fit for applications with thickness restrictions. This point is an essential part of Stone Honeycomb Panel Differentiators in general.

5. IMPACT RESISTANCE
These technically advanced panels, and especially TRIMSTONE®, have superior energy absorption and impact resistance. Panels exhibit flexural strength and warpage thresholds that are significantly greater than those normally seen in 4 cm granite slabs.
6. WATER RESISTANCE
TRIMSTONE® panels have a durable epoxy skin which protects the honeycomb core with a waterproof barrier. This is naturally a critical element in design and engineering decisions.

7. COST EFFICIENT
It is critical to provide the best value to our clients by bidding each project as competitively as possible. Basic cost savings are realized due to the very nature of Trimstone®. Our product is lighter, more resilient, and easier to install than standard 3/4′′ slabs.
8. PRODUCTION TIME
Since Trimstone is manufactured in the United States, we are able to bring efficient production timetables to even the most demanding construction schedules.
9. FREEZE / THAW RESISTANCE
The TRIMSTONE® panel system has been given relatively higher grades on all ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) tests conducted under freeze and thaw cycles than our competition (official test results are available for comparison). Above is a nice project in Canada. Also, please see a table of test results here.
Over the last few decades, technical advances in the construction space have been significant. In the case of Trimstone, we have leveraged the ability to cut stone in a precision manner, aluminum extrusion technological gains, the reliability of industrial grade adhesives, and computer assisted design to manufacture what we believe to be a truly 21st Century product.
